Pink Floyd: Animals (1977.)

Ako te nije briga za ono što mi se događalo, a ja ne marim za tebe , koračaćemo krivudavom stazom dosade i bola, povremeno dizati pogeld kroz kišu, pitaćemo se koga da okrivimo i gledaćemo za svinjama u letu... 
, pevao je Roger Waters na početku novog Pink Floyd albuma , početkom 1977. godine . Tematski , bio je to nastavak društvene kritike u orwelovskom stilu započete na prethodna dva albuma , kritike koja se dešavala u vreme mahnite najezde ciničnog i oštrog pank pokreta , povratka rokenrola nakon godina izdaje bazičnom buntu i zvuku ... I mada je bilo dosta kritičara koji su se silovito obrušili na Floyde kao još jednog rok dinosaurusa , prezasićenog slavom, novcem i bezidejnošću , koji nema više šta da kaže, istina je bila sasvim drgačija ... Postoji anegdota, iz potonjih vremena ( negde iz devedesetih) kada su novinari pitali Watersa kako gleda na pank pokret iz sedamdesetih i njegovu žestoku kritiku svega pa i bendova poput Floyda. Opor i ciničan, kakav već jeste, Waters je uzvratio duhovitim odgovorom: 

Pank? Nisam  ga primetio! Kada je bio pank?
You got to be crazy, gotta have a real need
Gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street
You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You got to strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older
Yeah, and in the end you'll pack up, fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?
Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone.
     
Životinje 
su predstavljale novi konceptualni Watersov ( pardon , Pink Floyd) album – basnu ( pesme su govorile o svinjama , psima i ovcama, jasno aludirajući na ljude i njihove postupke ) tj . kritički osvrt na ludilo  paranoju, licemerje, dosadu i apsurd savremenog sveta ... Mračni tonovi očaja i depresije, beznađa i ogorčenja boje ovaj mračni album crnim i sivim tonovima, zadirući u samu srž ignorisnog i prećutkivanog problema. U stilu Orwellove Animals farm bend na čelu sa Watersovom socijalnom satirom secira moderno društvo i osvetljava ga oštro iznutra, dočaravajući dugim instrumentalnim pasažima atmosferu nehumanosti i nesolidarnosti , kao i bezočne zlobe koje su odraz praznih i zatrovanih ljudskih duša... Glasom punim gorčine Waters se nemilosrdno obrušava na licemerje i apsurd gramzivih sistema, dajući kroz metafore jasnu sliku iskonstruisane društvene ,,idile“... Industrijski kompleks polunapuštene i depresivne elektrane u Londonu sa omota albuma ’’Animals“ deluje brutalno očajno , kao da je napravljen u stilu nacističkih koncentracionih logora – bez ikakvih mogućih naznaka ljudskosti i nade.

Groktanje svinja na početku numere Pigs ističe ogoljeno atmosferu okoline u kojoj živimo – proždrljivost, podmuklost , nebriga za druge ljude, bezosećajnost i cinizam, pohlepa i smrad koji dolazi iznutra (sa mesta gde je nekad postojala ljudska duša i saosećajnost) razarajuće deluju na ljude, stvarajući haos iz kojeg nastaju nasilje , ratovi , beda , patnja , beznađe i konačni čovekov pad . Dok jedni ( statistička manjina) grokću i množe se u nedogled matematičkom progresijom od sile i prežderanosti, većina , sasvim normalnih ljudi, umiru od gladi, očaja i totalnog beznađa, bez budućnosti i elementarnih ljudskih prava na život ... Muzika benda je u potpunosti u službi lirike i uglavnom bez naglih , eksperimentalnih zaokreta i promena ili pak svega onog ,, kosmičkog ludila“ koje je karakterisala bend u ranoj , početnoj fazi rada ... Ona svojom moći dramatike naglašava atmosferu raspadanja , sivila, truleži i kraha jedne materijalističke i isprazne civilizacije , društva modernih robova i praznih , licemerni, ljigavih priča bez dela... Teške tonove i mrak pesme Pigs donekle raspršuje Gilmourova solaža i lagano dizanje tempa , koji bar na trenutak rasteruje teške oblake nadvijene nad Londonom i svetom... Gotovo istovetna je i situacija sa pesmom Dogs ... Pesmu Sheep otvara klavirska melanholija, ponor sivila koji usisava svaku mogućnost akcije i nade , a onda se tempo donekle podiže i kreće putem iskričave vožnje uz Watersov vokal, ritmičko gruvanje i snažne uzlete Wrighta i Gilmoura koji postaje sve manje primetan na albumima Floyda...

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air

Oblaci beznađa i depresije toliko su zgusnuti i zagađeni izduvnim gasovima zaprljane ljudske duše da ih ništa ne može razbiti ili bar na momenat odagnati... Bilo kakav nagoveštaj nade ne nalazi mesta na albumu ,,Animals“ – Waters ostaje dosledan u stavovima do samog kraja albuma (pa i karijere , ispostaviće se vremenom , kao svaki pravi umetnik i čovek) . Ostatak benda , nažalost , vremenom je pokazivao sve manje inicijative i kreativnih ideja, odrađujući muzički deo posla standardno dobro i uglavnom rutinski – bez nekadašnje lucidnosti, žara i ideje...
     
Akustični Watersov uvod sa ,,Pigs on the wing 1“ , akustični Watersov kraj sa ,,Pigs on the wing 2“ i suština koncepta je zadovoljena u potpunosti i do samih krajnosti ... Znaš da brinem šta se tebi događa, i znam da brineš za mene i više se ne osećam usamljenim... , odjavna je špica i mogući tračak nade za posrnuli svet bez ljubavi... Bilo je to pre mnogo decenija, u ,,zlatno „ doba pre svih mogućih kriza i ratova, raspada mehura od sapunice laži i licemerja... Vizionarski ili ne, ali od jačine današnjeg groktanja moćnika vapaj unesrećenih danas se gotovo i ne čuje – povezani globalnom mrežem (u suštini novom, tehnički uznapredovalom varijantom bodljikave žice mesta za koncentrisanje nepodobnih), sami u gomili ljudi umiru od bede ,,zbrinuti“ pred očima Velikog Digitalnog Brata koji nas sve posmatra.
